Different settings are easily accessible via one button situated at the top of the light at the front . The red light on the back battery pack is a good touch, works well when waking on dark roads. One of the lighter weight units out there, so doesn't feel like you are wearing something on your head. Casts light at quite a wide viewing angle rather than focused forward which makes it a good night light for running, but probably not as good for someone who is using it for repairs in the dark for instance.
